What is write protection?

How do i get rid of the write protection on a SD card?

  • I have an SD card for my camera and it was working just fine until about 2 days ago. The card can hold up to 250 pics and I only have about 75. I tried to take more pics on it but it said that the memory was full. I put the card into my computer and it told me that it has a write protection on it and that I have to get rid of that in order to take more pics on it. I have no idea what write protection is and I don't know how to get rid of it. This is the only card I have for my camera so if anyone knows how to get rid of the write protection can you please help me? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

    On the side of your SD card there should be a switch. Switch it and Write Protection will go away. :)

take it out there is a lock on the right side. move it and unlock it. if it doesn't work tell me. i know another way too

Or more accuratley the switch on the SD card HOLDER. Push it up. BTW, there's an SD Association. Helpful download there is an SD Formatter (free download) if you ever need to reformat your card. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ Worked great for me when I couldn't delete files due to file name with characters that could not be read.
