If I use a free wireless internet, can others get my personal information if they use the same internet?

My husband gets free wireless internet at Subway, but he is afraid of logging onto certain websites with his personal information (such as banking). Is it possible for someone to use the same wireless internet that he uses, and get access to his information?

Answer:
The chance of this happening in an instance like this is higher than say, if you are on a secured network. If you have a firewall and don’t take chances with downloading and such, you should be better off. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

technically yes but the chances of this happening are slim but your husbands very clever to stay away from his banking website because although rare it does happen and you could be the unlucky person for banking try using a reputable internet cafe for 5 min it should only cost 20p and this is much safer than chancing your luck with an open network. dont know if you have seen it but this scam was shown on the real hustle on bbc 3
no. the wireless connection at subway is only to connect to the internet, it wont give away any personal data.

No - it is not possible to "eavesdrop" on a WIFI connection AFAIK Banking websites (and Ebay or Paypal) use secure servers - just look for the padlock symbol or "https" at the start of the web address

depends , if you have your personal info stored on your computer then yes but if you are on a banking site (official banking site) you will have no problem unless you have bad cookies wich are rare.

Yes, if they are smart enough to know how to get it. Like me, I would have no idea how to get it but there are some people out there that are great with internet.
