How do I put a password on a zip folder?

How can I put password for a folder in Windows 98?

  • I want to make a folder in my computer(Windows 98) password protected... I don't want my whole Computer protected just this particular folder... Also I plan on writing this folder to a CD and giving it to a friend of mine and I also want her to be able to use the password to access the folder. How can I do so?

  • Answer:

useing a security software encription tool can do the job turn the folder into a *.zip file then choose to have the *.zip file password protected and encripted most *.zip file maker software will have this avaible as an option. good luck with the "kinks" that will pop up as they always do.

Download a program like 7 Zip and use it to zip and password protect your folder. 7 Zip is free, so your friend can use it too to unlock the file with the password.
