Microsoft is Part of a SCAM!?
-
Ok a couple min ago i downloaded skype. By mistake i typed in download skype in the web adress bar instead of the google search bar. So it took me to my default search engine which is bing. I then proceeded to click the 1st link it had if not the only link. I thought it was fishy that it didnt say skype.com for skype on web address bar instead it said http://kleosssoft.info/free-skype/. i proceeded to download and i did not get skype! so then i went to google and it took me to the real skype website. Wala moments later i get a virus telling me to activate my virus protector, which by the way i have norton and is always running. So then it popped up and said i had 38 viruses on this generic garbage pop up. It wanted me to buy a so called Ms tools 2.30 for 60 and enter my credit info which i was not buying for a sec at this same moment my backround changed to a blue screen, and it would not let me acess the end now tab (ctrl, alt, Delete) also it was blocking my acess to internet and computer was runing slow. I ran my virus scanner and it did not finish all the way but i managed to get rid off the tracking cookies of this virus then my computer shutoff. I had a feeling Norton would not detect it so i clicked something on norton that says click here if you feel there still is a threat. Going through norton the virus could not block acess to the internet, so it sent me to the page that had 2 options to download the nessecary tools to get rid of this virus, which i read there that this undetectable virus is called crimeware. And the website also provided a link to report this to the F.B.I. which i hae not got a chance to do yet. I then removed it with the nessecary extended tools from norton. I then went back to my internet expolrer and typed the same thing i typed in my web address bar as when i made the mistake( download skype) and wala Boom same link same false website trhough bing. I then went to the bing toolbarand typed in the same thing and same thing! i then went to google toolbar and NOPE! i clicked the link and it was the real skype website link. On bing the results say skypeus.com but when you click it, the link goes to http://kleosssoft.info/free-skype/ not skype or skypeus .com. Keep in mind this virus must be going for your credit card info, From the looks of it as the number 1 result on bing for (download skype) Microsoft has to be in on this! If i did not have norton or for the average computer user that has no virus scanner active on your computer, you woulld be SCREWED!and out of a computer or who knows what woul happen if you enter your credit info... Because you cant get acess to the internet or do anything plus computer starts runnig slower the longer its on. MICROSOFT OWNS BING! And its is the 1 result! Please Report this to the F.B.I. Just some advice to prevent these scums from scamming any people and stopping them while we can!

Answer:
This is actually fairly common, and Google is probably better (more experienced) at dealing with it than Microsoft. Unfortunately, when you're a search provider, or decision engine, or whatever the heck you call yourself, and you offer Sponsored Links (that appear first in search results), you open yourself up to this type of malicious activity. It isn't solely Microsoft's fault. They didn't intend for the malicious site to end up as a sponsored result on Bing, but it happens. So, I called the FBI, Secret Service, CIA, NSA, Santa Claus, AND the Tooth Fairy, and they are all descending on Microsoft HQ as I type this.
