How To Get Twitter On School Computers?

Do you think it is fair that i should get banned from computers at my school?

  • Ok now i might be going through what happen to you soon. I was going through a proxy site and then i downloaded something to make the flash game work. Then it sent a message to a school computer and shutdown mine saying "your computer has committed suicide" shutdown- 5:00 and then i got called to the office and was told that i will be getting banned or possibly expelled from school and or the computers do you think this is fair. So far i only got a detention.

  • Answer:

You breached a contract with the school. I'm certain you had to agree to the schools computer rules. By breaking those rules, they have a right to punish you as they see fit. Proxy websites contain viruses and track your passwords, so they hack into your email and myspace etc accounts. Why do you think people keep creating proxies? For fun? No, so they can steal data. I work in this field as a computer admin, so I am familiar with punishment on this etc. Your punishment will be determined on a number of factors I expect. 1. How much damage was done to the computer network from this virus. - Was it localized to that one computer, or did it spread to others? 2. How much time and work it takes to clean up the mess you made. 3. They will look through the logs to see how many times you used proxies and how often - to see if it's a first time offense or something you did a lot. Now they probably won't expell you, unless the damage is widespread. You will certainly loose your computer access on school computers for the rest of the academic year. And maybe get suspended for a couple days. Is it fair? Yes. You could (or did) do serious damage to school property. Costing time and money to fix and risked other students and staff having their computers and files infected with a virus. What you did was something you may think is not a big deal. It's a very big deal.

Yes, of course it's fair. Why do you think school teachers/ICT technicians put blocks on the use of proxy sites. Maybe this will be the first thing that you've learned ... things are done for a reason.

YES! You should not be downloading dangerous programs on computers that are not yours! BTW: They should have it set up so that only the administrator can download stuff.
