  • Answer:

If you want free then I recommend Avast , superantispyware and Malwarebytes. coupled with Comodo firewall They are all free for personal use . It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.

Right, for starters you SHOULD have an anti virus program running all the time NOT when it is too late and you have already got problems. ALSO only ever run ONE antivirus, if you do not have another keep Avast as it is a very good free anti-virus. As for the program "My Security Shield" download Malwarebytes(free) update it and do a full scan. Remove EVERYTHING it finds and reboot your system. My Security Shield will have been deleted then, also un-instal Spyhunter as it is useless as you need to pay to use it.

Download, install and run Super Anti-spyware and Malware bytes. Both free and excellent.

That "Security Shield" is not a virus. It's a spyware so I doubt that even the best AV can detect it. To remove spyware, you need a very good antispyware like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free However, there are other steps you need to do to completely remove "Security Shield": http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-shield

I second the advice to get Malwarebytes - it is free and very effective in catching and killing things AV programs may miss (including Security Shield). You do need to have an antivirus active on your computer at all times, and it's a good idea to have an anti-malware program to run a weekly scan for spyware. If you are not sure what antivirus will work best for you, don't just listen to what someone tells you, as what's best in AV is a matter of personal preference. Do some research, compare different program features and decide what matters to you. For starters, here is a good article about choosing antivirus software - http://www.auslogics.com/en/articles/what-is-the-best-antivirus-software-2012/ I personally use Auslogics Antivirus and am pretty happy with it. I got it for its small size and being light on resources, which is important for my older computer that doesn't have the highest specs. I also use Malwarebytes in addition to the antivirus, which is is great for catching what AV software may miss. Hope this helps. Good luck!
