How do I download a song without getting a virus on my computer?

  • I really need to download a song A.S.A.P. I want to do it without getting a virus on my new computer. My brother installed a thing called "Bittorrent" on my computer. I'm not quite sure how to use it, but I know it DL's stuff. My brother said there IS a way to DL a song without getting a virus, but he says its kind of complicated. PLEASE HELP!

Download your music from iTunes, yes, you have to pay .99 but the music is legally downloaded and virus free.

There is no way of finding out whether the file you downloaded has a virus until it has been downloaded. Once you have the file saved, do NOT open it yet. If you have a good anti-virus software installed, then right click on the file you have downloaded, then click SCAN with "whatever virus protection you have installed". If it says no virus found, then you are safe to open that file. Goodluck.

Your brother lied. By "it's complicated" he means, "you have to get lucky". It's as complicated as guessing which number I'm thinking of. Downloading music from bittorrent and other p2p sources is intrinsically dangerous, and you could end up with a virus. The only thing you can do to 100% prevent it is to not download the music from there, and use iTunes or Rhapsody (or a similar service) instead.

Make sure u download the song with the most people downloading it and the songs that seem real..... Not the ones that don't.... (frostwire/limewire) .... This will decrease the chance of you getting a virus e.t.c.
