What is AT&T's contact email?

Can your computer infect your email account with a virus that emails itself to your contact list?

  • If you get or have a virus on your computer, can it spread to your email account when you have it open and then send emails to people on your contact list? Or are email viruses received and spread exclusively through email? (As in you can only get a virus in your email account that emails people on your contact list, by receiving an email that is infected). Someone I know thinks her computer has a virus that latched itself onto her email account somehow and is sending virus emails to her contact list.

  • Answer:

she is infected with a spam bot. it is her computer sending out Emails. if she has used a credit card, details of that could have been sent to the owner of the worm. .

Normally, opening an email doesn't install the virus. Its when you click on the links (contained in the email) is when the virus gets installed. But yes, it reads your mail then starts mailing everyone in your contacts, inbox, outbox, drafts, saved mail, everything it can read.

Her account got compromised. First she must change her password. on the account . Then run anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Should be fine then.
