How do u stop browser hijacking??

  • Answer:

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free. I-Worm/Stration · BackDoor.Generic3.GBB and .GBC · Worm/Generic.FX · Exploit.WMF http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5 Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer. http://www.safer-networking.org/ http://superantispyware.com/ SUPERAntiSpyware is the most thorough scanner on the market. Our Multi-Dimensional Scanning and Process Interrogation Technology will detect spyware that other products miss! SUPERAntiSpyware will remove ALL the Spyware, NOT just the easy ones! Easily remove over 100,000 pests such as SmitFraud, Vundo, WinFixer, SpyAxe, SpyFalcon, WinAntiVirus, AntiVermins and thousands more! Make sure after you download any of these, that you update them.

There are several things you can do. First, get a spyware cleaning program. I suggest AVG Antispyware. You can get it from link #1 at the bottom. Run it, clean your system, and make sure you enable Resident Shield. Second, switch to Firefox. Firefox is an alternate browser to internet explorer. Internet explorer is known for having numerous security holes, even the latest 7.0 still does. It took over 2 years for them to upgrade from 6.0 and 7.0. You can see footage of this at link #2 at the bottom. You can get Firefox from link #3. Firefox also has many good plug ins. I suggest Adblock,All-in-one gestures, and the Google tool bar. Third, read up on basic internet safety. See link #4 at the bottom.

Welcome to spyware!!! Yes you have got some programs on your computer that are always sending you to sites trying to sell stuff. To combat this awful and dirty attack use these programs. Spybot Search & Destroy and Microsoft's Defender. Both are free and you will need to update them after you install. This is so they can detect newer types of spyware.

There is a program called Hijack This that if used with an anti-syware tool such as Ad-Aware will remove the spyware on your computer. Once a browser (homepage) has been hijacked, various toolbars are often installed with the spyware. Removing these can be a lengthy process depending on how what exactly is installed.

If you're using IE, please go to "Tools" in the row above and click on it. In the drop down menu, go to "Internet Options" and click on it. In the dialog box there, you'll see the name of the site that's hijacking you. Please delete it and type in the address of the site that you want for your home page. Having done that, please click on the button that reads "Use Current". Now, scroll down to the bottom of the Panel and click on Apply and OK. Exit the Panel and close the browser. Now, when you open it again, it'll have gone back to your preferred home page. All the best.
