How do I secure a website login?
-
Alright.... I have a website I'm putting up. So far I have a solid login page. I wish to make it secure (like HTTPS). Website: haloscoped.dyndns.info I use HTML Password Lock to create the login. How can I make it secure login? If necessary, please redirect me to somewhere with a clear and easy explanation of how-to. I'm starting from ground up here.

Answer:
You need to enable SSL on your site and create a server certificate. If you want people to login with no security "get me out of here" challenge you'll need to buy a cert from a registered CA. Then you configure your login page to require SSL, and maybe do a redirect from http:// to https:// I've done that for Apache basic auth module on Linux; not sure what "Password Lock" is.
