How do I get rid of quarantined files on my computer?

I have adware in my computer, but I can't get rid of it?

  • I was going through my program files the other day and found a program called "I Want This". I was surely surprised considering I hadn't downloaded such a program that I remember, so I looked in the folder and it has some .dll files and some Javascript files plus an application and an uninstall application. I'm not going to run the uninstall application since its adware and I feel like if I run it that'll just be digging my own grave further. I deleted the whole folder and thought that was the end of that, this however was not the case. Malwarebytes keeps alerting me that there's adware on my computer, and it keeps identifying that file after I've deleted it and quarantined it in Malwarebytes and everything! I tried running the folder through the Shredder program (deletes files and overwrites them multiple times to completely wipe them from your computer) and it said that the Iwantthis.dll file is in use in Internet Explorer. I don't even have Internet Explorer open, and when I look in my history, nothing about that stupid program is even there. What can I do to get rid of this adware before it's too late.

  • Answer:

Run rkill before you scan with MBAM. Read the description to see what it does. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill After rkill runs successfully, run a full scan with MBAM. You may also want to install, and run a full scan with SUPERAntiSpyware, it's free: http://www.superantispyware.com/
