Is iyogi a scam? can they still have access to my laptop? can hack if they have my wireless network&password?
-
My laptop had a problem connecting to the wireless network. So I called Netgear and they sent me to iyogi. She asked me all these questions like my e-mail address, name, zip code, phone number, and internet provider. She then asked if my home phone was this and she got it right (yeah.. i should have just ended the call). Then she asked if she could go into my computer and I said yes. So she made me go to this 1mb.com website and she told me to click "I agree". Later, I was downloading something and that allowed her access into my computer. I clicked yes because I trusted her because I honestly thought she was working for Netgear and she was going to fix the problem. Then she asked me what my wireless network's name and password was and I gave it to her (yeah.. another stupid mistake). She then told me that the router wasn't the problem. She said that my laptop was the problem. Then she said that if I paid $169.99 she would be able to enroll me in a coverage plan or I could just pay $49.99. I knew that there's a lot of scams nowadays so I said that I wasn't interested but she kept saying that I would find a better price anywhere else. But I told her that I wasn't interested and she was kind enough to accept my answer. Then she told me that she was logging off and my laptop restarted. But now I'm really scared because when my laptop restarted it didn't go to the login page. It already went into my account. Then I checked to see if the thing I downloaded was there and it was. I didn't click on it but then it went on the downloaded thing and it said connecting to server but then the program stopped. So I tried to see if the program was still there again but then it disappeared. Can iyogi still have access to my laptop? Also, will they try to hack my wireless network or something? I did some research on iyogi and there's a lot of negative stuff about them. Sorry, my question is pretty long but Please help!! Thank you

Answer:
Its not a scam ,What iYogi does is provide technical support services for people who have problems with their systems. I don't believe I've ever heard of an iYogi scam. I have subscribed to this firm and am quite happy with their services. The only drawback is they do not provide support for Apple products. So there-you've been warned!

iyogi has a running history of bait-and-switch tactics, and consumer dissatisfaction. Their presence on Yahoo as a "Knowledge Partner" is not based on performance and customer satisfaction; but on how much money they have paid Yahoo. Any time you allow an unknown party remote access to your machine you have no way of knowing what has, or can be done. Manipulation of files or inserting hidden processes is always possible.
