How do I get rid of pop ups?

Problems with pop ups and hyper links appearing on my web browser, how can i get rid of them?

I have a lot of pops ups appearing on web sites like yahoo and other commonly used web sites and hyperlinks going to dodgy sites trying to sell their products wrinkle creams and teeth whitening sites which I know are rip off sites, please please give me the name of a free pop up blocker or spyware program I can download to get rid, thanks!!!

    Just block the pop ups....you can easily do this by going to settings menu...... for Mozilla Firefox- goto Options -> Contents -> and then check the block popup windows option for Google Chrome - goto Options -> Under The Hood -> click on Content Setting(Just in right to Privacy) -> See For Pop Ups and then check 'Do not allow any site to show pop-ups' also install addon to block the advertisements, by this no ads will be shown in any site on your browser (it will also speed up your browsing) AdBlock Plus for Mozilla https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/?src=cb-dl-users, AdBlock Plus Beta for Chrome https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb?hl=en

go to START/CONTROL PANAL/NETWORK & INTERNET/INTERNET OPTIONS/PRIVACY/put a check mark on the (turn on pop-up-blocker) and go into settings,blocking level, set it to medium:block,also in PRIVACY, put a check mark on disable toolbars and extensions when inprivate browsing starts.
