How do I retrieve addresses from previous Yahoo account?

I need to close an old Yahoo account because it has been compromised. Has anybody else had this problem???

  • It happened in January of this year. I could no longer log in to an account that I had used for about 10 years. Yahoo Customer Service was not helpful in my attempts to retrieve access to that account, so I opened a new one. I really like Yahoo and don't blame them, but I want that other account closed, because somebody is still using it and sending things to people that were in my address book. I suggest you keep all of your account information current just incase fraud comes your way. It had been years since I'd thought about updating mine and had to guess at many of my answers. Also, I'd recommend having a hard COPY of all of your important email addresses because I've had to recreate mine - they were all lost to this hacker in January. It stinks having to do all the extra work because of fraud!

    I've had that problem, specifically because of Yahoo selling off information. You might want to try to pay for your old account and go through customer service that way. Then they might provide you with a password.

Sorry I don't know the answer. I wish I did because it has just happened to me the same way. I had a warning though and was able to do something that helped alot. We are able to export and import our address books and calendars, which I did after making a back up id. So when my account was not available anymore I still had those. You might want to do that in case of a repeat attack.
