What is COM Surrogate and why has it stopped working?

When I open something like a video or pictures, windows says COM Surrogate has stopped working?

It also says to help protect you computer, Data Execution has closed COM Surrogate or something like that. What is COM Surrogate? I am getting worried about my computer. Thanks!
