Can anyone hack into my computer through my IP address,got from yahoo messenger?Please help?

You leave your IP address whenever you visit a website. IP addresses are not something you can (or should) keep a secret. An IP address can identify you, but for normal folks that will usually only reveal your ISP (Internet Service Provider - the company you buy your internet access from). However, law enforcement agencies can force your ISP to reveal your identity (name, address), if you do something illegal online. So, don't worry about someone having your IP address. If you had visited my site, I would have your IP too - that's just how the internet works. But always be sensible about sharing files, opening emails, etc, especially from people you don't know. In fact, best not open files from people you don't know. And of course use an up-to-date virus program and firewall just in case. As for chat, each chat program, including Yahoo Messenger, has the option to only accept incoming chat messages from your friends. Instant messaging programs are often abused by spammers because they can grab your attention that way. So guard yourself against that by simply not letting strangers contact you.

you can change ur i.p address but you ned to see a software specialist for that... the guy can do a lot of damage with ur i.p adress... thats if he is seriosly gonna do anything, i wouldnt worry about it.. did you give him you i.p address ? cause its not easy to retrieve a strangers i.p address!
