How to protect a video with a password?

How can i restrict or password protect the playback of all the audio and video files on my pc?

    First off, you have to tell us what Windows version you are using? XP? Win98? WinMe? What? One way to do this is to destroy the file association dealing with video and audio playback. For example, you can set avi, mpeg, mpg, quicktime (qt?), rm files...etc to open using Notepad only. Those are all the more common video file formats. Then assign everyone who uses your PC to a very restricted Limited User account. Or you can restrict use of certain audio and video playback applications to be used by administrator only. That should include Windows Media Player, QT, Real Player, Winamp etc...or any other players that you might have installed in your PC.

The easiest way would be to set up a password-protected account for yourself on your system, if you haven't already (Windows XP "user"), and move all your audio and video files to your My Documents folder. You can either have no other accounts (in which case, other people can't even log on to your PC), or you can set up other accounts, and when logged in, they can't access your "My Documents" folder. Another way would be to put all of your audio and video files into a password-protected Zip file. http://www.winzip.com ... but then you'd have to supply the password whenever YOU wanted to play them, which would be a pain.

If you had a Mac, you could create a passworded disk image and put the files in it.
