Is this a scam and/or advertising ploy?
-
I recently put my vehicle up for sale on craigslist, they asked me what I wanted to sell it for. I gave them a price and I got this email in return. Cool, that sounds pretty good. My fiancé George is the one who’s buying it. Our deal is that he buys the car for me, if I pay for the monthly policy premiums. I make good money; I know I can afford it, but he still wants me to give him a rough idea of the cost before he goes ahead and buys it. I’m at the office right now, and they limit internet use to internal company web sites only. Will you do me a favor, and go to Auto Quotes and grab a quick quote for me, so I have something to show him? We're local, with 0 tickets or accidents. Just tell me what the monthly rate is and we’ll come by after work today, if that’s OK with you. Thanks and look forward to meeting with you! Rachel Is this an advertising ploy or scam?

Answer:
Never play their game whatever it is. You have a car for sale. They show up with the cash. You give them the title and car. You remove your tags. None of their games or montly payments. If they ask to test drive, make sure one of them stays with you and you take down all of the driver's info from a legit driver's license. Be safe.

That's funny. I just got this response this morning for a car I'm selling on Craigslist: OK, that’s perfect. My husband Mike is the one who’s buying it for me. We worked it out so that he’ll pay for the car, if I handle the premiums on the policy. I make good money; I know I can afford it, but he wants me to give him a rough idea of the cost before he spends a bunch of money on me. I’m at the office, and they limit internet usage to corporate web sites only. Can you do a big favor for me, and go to Auto Quotes and grab a basic quote for me, so I have something to show him? We're local, with no tickets or accidents. Just let me know what the rate is and we’ll come over after work today, if that’s alright with you. Thanks and look forward to meeting with you! Rachel Clearly, it's not a serious buyer.
