What Antivirus software would be better?

The Shield Deluxe 2010 or Norton Antivirus 2010? I just need virus protection for the users on one home computer. So which is better or would you reccomend one other than what's mentioned?

avast antivirus is the best

Norton has re-designed the whole program. It will not use that much resources on your machine.

Anything is better then shield delux. Norton is the better pick there, but you could use a free one instead like avast. http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html

Norton Internet Security was recommended by a PC Advisor issue 180 as best buy. Speed & detection: exceptional; Signature-based detection: 98.4% (Mcafee won there); Behaviour-based detection: 100%; Rootkit detection: 96.7%(here Avast, AVG and PC Tools won 100%); Active Rootkit:100%; Malware cleanup: 93% (here PC Tools and Webroot won 100%);ease of use: very good; On-demand scan: 101 seconds (beated by Avast with 62 seconds); On-access scan: 254 seconds (beated by PC Tools with only 171 seconds); System boot time: 50.8 (beated by Trend Micro)Word 2007 launch time:4.3 (beated by AVG with 2.6) Microsoft Office install time:214 (AVG beated it with 192). In conclusion: Overall (on all the tests) Norton won the golden trophy!

None of the above! In my opinion, and take it or leave it, Kaspersky is one of the better antivirus applications. Coupled with a legitimate and fully functional antispyware application, you could do no better for the safety of your PC. I would suggest teaming Kaspersky up with Spyhunter. Check it out here: http://www.pcthreat.com/parasitebyid-756 Remember to always keep your antivirus and anti-spyware applications up to date and fully functional.
if you have money I will recommend bitdefender or kaspersky.. but for me i choose bitdefender because it is much cheaper compare to kaspersky... check my sources for the review

Have you considered Microsoft Security Essentials? It's free and covers a wide range of viruses and other malware...: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ In my book, free is always better :-) That doesn't mean it's any less effective either.

I still don't trust Norton. Their products were great back in the late-80's, but are too bulky and buggy these days. Ok, someone else says they've been redesigned, but I'll wait and see.
