How can I check a full company report?

How do I report someone sending me an IM asking me to cash a check for their company?

  • I had someone IM me and start a chat. I told him I wasn't interested due to having a man in my life. I asked him to stop IMing me and was going to block him. Then he asked me to do a favor for him. He asked me to help him cash a check, all he needed was my full name and address. I thought, he must be kidding, right? Then he said that he would have one of his associates come to my house with the check. Of course I didn't respond. But what if he is trying to do something illegal? Can I report him without having to say who I am? Even though he doesn't know my name, he could still harrasse me if he knew I reported him. What to do? Do I take it seriously or just let it go?

  • Answer:

When the check bounces after you have given them/him/her the money, YOU will be responsible for PROMPT restitution to the bank. Failing that, YOU become the criminal, and then you will receive NO EXCUSE for your story. They have let in a ZILLION foreigners who have absolutely no respect for the laws, no conscience, and are working these scams FULL TIME and SUCCEEDING to earn $1000 per week and up while leaving others holding the bag. They do it with fake/stolen/counterfeit money orders and travelers checks that look safe. They get involved with people who are selling used cars, rings, lawn mowers, looking for a home for a cat and all manner of other usually straighforward transactions and connive to get money involved in some way that lets them walk off with a free lawnmower at the minimum, and if possible leaves the offended party owing his/her bank and needing to PAY UP FAST to stay out of jail. AND, GET THIS: The police, FBI, law, etc are NOT INTERESTED UNTIL the bank determines the check, M.O. etc. is bogus. AND THEN they are LOOKING FOR YOU.... So watch out!!!!!!! Typically $300--900 range.
