What were some programs from the New Deal?

What programs should I install on my new PC for security/maintenance?

• So I am getting a new Windows 7 PC sometime within the next 2 weeks. I want to know what you guys would recommend for virus, spyware, or other useful programs to make sure my computer works well into the future. Some programs I use on my current laptop are: Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, Mcafee Security. How good are these programs and what are some others that I should have? Keep in mind I really don't want to pay for any of this software.

  Crapafee is crap, you may as well have no AV program at all, most of the people on YA with malware have crapafee. The two top AV's that are free are Avira, and Avast. I use, and am very happy with Avast, but Avira is currently testing better. http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus I also suggest the pro version of MBAM (MalwareBytes) unless you are not that inclined to get malware in the first place. You can ditch SpyBot, spybot has too many processes running for my taste, and is just too old school. The free version of SUPERAntiSpyware is what you should have if you want a more traditional type of Anti-Spyware program.
