Which one is the best free antivirus software?

I want to buy original antivirus software for my PC. Please suggest me best one?

    If you need a good antivirus that will not slow your computer buy Norton 2011, I bought a few months ago and must say it works perfectly because I did not infected with any viruses and the pc works very fast, although in many places also recommend quite Bitdefender, as in the link below which shows a comparison chart of antivirus.

Look Bro..... If you want a freeware antivirus.. Go for AVG 2012 without Doupt. If U want a Best Budget Antivirus...Go for Kaspersky 2012 (Rs.550 for single user). If U want a Very Costly One........Go for Quick Heal 2012 (Rs.1200 for single user). My Vote to Kaspersky 2012, Very Reliable.

Kaspersky is one of the best in the market. I have been using it for years now. It is light on the system and doesn't slow it down. It comes 2 packs, with and without internet security. A 3 system pack without internet security is around 500/- and with internet security is 850/-. Bit defender is also around the same price range and is reviewed as the best antivirus software on online reviews. Not used it though so can't say much. What do you mean by original? Any program you buy will be original! If you mean an early verson of the program, then you can't buy those. Depending on your computer specs - if you have a good computer (say 3GB of RAM and a fairlt decent processor) I would sugest, Norton Innternet security 2011 or later. If however your computer is a few years old or runs with minimum specs, then I wouldn't recomend you buy any antivirus at all. Instead, I would recomend that you download the free Microsoft program, as it is fairly good and is light on resources. If you have a Mac, just turn on your built in firewall and make sure your internet is secure. As of yet there are very few viruses for Macs, just don't go to creepy sites and you will be fine

After many years of using free A/V and anti malware I some months ago installed a Norton trial Internet security 2011on my daughters and granddaughters computers.I always felt Norton was a huge resource hog but the latest version was vastly improved. So much so that after three months I have installed it on my computer which seems considerably more responsive. My choice now until something better comes along.
