How Do I get Rid of Antivirus XP 2008?

  • It isn't found in any program or system file..therefore NONE of the scanner programs that can "Remove it" Are finding it. This includes spyhunter,SUPERAntiSpyware,Spyware doctor, and Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware Program. However, it is STILL popping up in either my mozila firefox browser or internet explorer browser..NO attempt at restoring the computer is working..it just infects that day as well. I've seen some instructions on manual removal..but the EXEs and other files are just non-existant to do so..HOW can I get rid of this thing? It seems I have the most intellegent version of this crap to-date apparently..

Edit: (Yahoo is 999 erroring my edit when added to my original post, so I'm forced to add only the edit portion.) Mr. Estevez, you are twisting my words and accusing me of saying things that I didn't say. 1a) I CLEARLY stated that SpyHunter is no longer on the Rogue list. I then stated why I feel it still fits the criteria of "rogue" to *ME* (clearly MY opinion). 1b) What you haven't done is supply a positive review of SpyHunter from a reputable source... not one of the ready-made review/ads, such as "Top Ten Reviews". 3a) Where did I say "false positives"? I said "Exaggerated claims of malware." This includes listing tracking cookies as malware to increase the scare factor. 3b) Trying to smear your "good name"? The closest thing I've seen to a good comment about Enigma is that it isn't as shady as it used to be. 4) I did not say that you "... *use* any type of "Spyware Alert and the other dubious programs" ; ... I *compared* your product to AdwareAlert and the other dubious programs. And by comparing your selling methods to theirs, I stand by the statement. Again, read my words as they are written: don't twist, add, or paraphrase my words. 6) I never made any statement that your "... Spyware Helpdesk is not a valid added service." Again you are implying that I said something which I didn't say; * I simply stated that since your product *AS SOLD* did not work for the asker, he could have gotten free help from the other sources that I mentioned. What *could* be implied here is that since your product didn't work for him, there are other options other than your helpdesk. * What *you* are wrongly implying is that the HJT volunteers at majorgeeks and bleepingcomputer are merely bloggers or random people responding to questions in a forum setting such as Y! Answers. This is blatantly false. The HJT volunteers are well trained and highly competent, and they work with the person who needs help on a one-to-one basis. 7) Where did I say anything about a credible rogue list, other than my opening statement that you are no longer on the Spyware Warrior Rogue list? (Or anything similar... since you are paraphrasing my words and taking things out of context, I don't know what you are referring to.) * Perhaps you are referring to where I said "reputable", in reference to asking you for a good review of SpyHunter from a *reputable* source... which you apparently can't do. I don't work for any competitors of yours; I don't work in the field at all. I'm merely a hobbyist exercising my freedom of speech by stating MY opinions. It is YOU who should be careful about twisting people's words and accusing them of saying things that they clearly didn't say.

first off spyhunter is a rogue program remove it. If you have trouble removing Spyhunter Spybot S&D remove it as a rogue. 1. update SUPERAntiSpyware & Malwarebytes 2. boot in safe mode (without networking) run Malwarebytes then SUPERAntiSpyware. You should now be clean. If not clean e mail me. @Alvin J. Estevez Are you going to give this person there money back ? Spyhunter failed. I'm promoting no program just stating what works (& there free). Are you stating Spybot S&D is a rogue for it states you are.

First and foremost, ignore Alvin and his attempts at scaring people into keeping quiet about SpyHunters rogue status (it is indeed a rogue - always has been, just as ESG have always been a scummy company that should've been shut down years ago). If you still have this infection, I'd strongly suggest using Malwarebytes AntiMalware; www.malwarebytes.org

If it's still popping up in your browser window, clear your history and cookies. Use CCleaner which will do it for you: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Edit: Also try this: Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hijack_Remover_d4816.html Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed. and scan your programs with RevoUninstaller: http://www.download.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html?part=dl-RevoUnins&subj=uo&tag=button&cdlPid=10854684 It's faster and better than add / remove applet and also shows many programs that windows doesn't When you run it highlight the item then select uninstall in next window select Advanced and click Next, follow prompts when uninstalled it will scan registry and drive for leftover files / folders, tick ONLY the bold items and follow prompts. 2nd EDIT: EnigmaSoftware, so are you going to offer a refund for what is flagged as 'Used for the distribution of "rogue" security or other such applications.'...'Rogue antispyware'....' Fraud, scam, phishing'......'Bad customer experience'....? SpyHunter was once listed in Spywarewarrior's list of rogue applications, "because of the company's history of employing aggressive, deceptive advertising." Though since de-listed, it was given the following comment: "SpyHunter, at least in its current state, cannot be recommended because of its mediocre performance as an anti-spyware scanner." 3rd EDIT: I would like to point out that I have only used FACTUAL information and also quoted the sources. Many contributors here are helping others to solve problems with FREE programs that are known to work, not with affiliate links to line their own pockets and the vendors. The majority of us are not looking for personal gain, but to pass on knowledge and assistance to those who need it, there are so many who do not know where to start so they do the best thing.....seek advice. You will also find that many of us also recommend specific programs, because we know they do the job in the simplest manner. We know which programs work through: a) Personal experience. b) Actually importing malware specifically to ensure that these programs fulfil the criteria. c) They cost nothing.
