What the heck is wrong with my computer? Virus?
-
I am not sure what's wrong with my computer. When I try to download certain programs, they don't work. I downloaded adobe flashplayer, from the official Adobe site, and yet my computer will not acknowledge its presence on my computer. I try to use the start menu to find the program and never can, yet when I go to the "Uninstall a program" option control, I can find it there, and can only ever remove it, not repair it. Then, I don't remember exactly how, but I managed to find the actual program Adobe Flashplayer on my computer and it said 0 bytes. What?? I've installed and uninstalled it several times, and it never works. I have norton internet security and have done full system scans, and it only ever finds tracking cookies. I also have Advanced System Care 5, which also has a virus scanner, and it only finds tracking cookies as well. In addition, when I opened Norton yesterday, there was a software update available, so I let it install it. Then I reopened the new Norton and 5 seconds later, it froze. Then, suddenly all the shortcuts became invalid. So now I have to open it from the program itself. Also, a few programs that I've installed have automatically locked themselves (Folder with a padlock image). I can access them because I have administrator permission, but I can never use a shortcut. What is wrong with my computer?? Installer software has a virus? What? I am becoming increasingly frustrated with every attempt to put any sort of software on my computer. Some software does install, but never the essential core programs, like adobe flashplayer, shockwave, that stuff. If anyone know a legitimately free and very good virus scanner, please let me know. Also, any other comments or suggestions are welcome, including what settings I should check and how. Please do not recommend that I pay for anything to fix it (Programs, or computer guy), because I have no money. Thanks all!

Answer:
You have walware, virus, spyware etc. I use different suites to remove and i do it once a week to make sure. 1) http://www.malwarebytes.org 2) http://www.superantispyware.com/ Both are free and will do the job for you. But make sure you don't install them at the same time. Install one, update it, run it, then restarted it. Then do the same for the other. You don't need to uninstall the first. Also if you have a problem installing either, install them in safe mode, with network support. This can be done by pressing F8 repeatedly when booting up the computer and sleeting the appropriate option.

Sounds like it could be malware to me, follow my instructions in this answer, it will (should) work for you too: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Atg9AprLjbRlo7qLMoELSHIw5XNG;_ylv=3?qid=20120320174705AAhiMfw If after following the instructions, you still have issues, it's not malware related, and you can look for other reasons.
