What are the components of a car battery?

I need help with my Silencer car security system.?

• I have a '95 Nissan Altima that has a Silencer security system; the kind that inhibits the starter unless you push the gray button on this remote: http://www.aboutsecurityconcepts.com/Silencer_Remote_ELVMT5A_p/5925-cd-rf6.htm. I can't get my car to start even when I do press the gray button. I understand that there is an LED light indicator under the steering wheel that blinks rapidly when the gray button has been pressed. It's blinking rapidly but the car still won't start. when i turn the ignition, nothing happens; the car just goes silent in much the same way it does when you turn the key without pressing the gray button which disables the Silencer system. Now I know that sounds like maybe there's something else wrong with the car, like say a dead battery. However, when I tried to jump the battery, the car still behaved the exact same. Also the battery leads spark when touched by the jumper cables which usually means there's life in the battery; and what's more, all the lights and electrical components of the car are working fine. The only thing I can really account for is the Silencer system. I have no manual for it, and besides the gray button, there's a red button, and i have no idea what that button does. I suspect I've accidentally pressed it and locked the security system. So, I'm asking if anyone has any idea how I might unlock the security system.
