If your paying for Norton give them a call. That's what your paying for. The other suggestions are good, but why buy insurance if your not going to use it.

It's time to install some software and run a few scans. Here's what I use: Avast virus guard http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html The Home Edition is free, including 1 year of automatic updates. It does require registration. AVG and Kaspersky (mentioned above) are also both good. I used to be a fan of Norton products but not lately. SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html and AdAware http://www.lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php Also both free. Run both of these programs now and once every few months. They both have a button to update the libraries before you run a new scan. And if you don't automatically install Windows updates, grab the latest patches from Microsoft here: http://www.update.microsoft.com/ With all the installation processes, reboots, and scans, reserve the better part of an afternoon to clean this up. The rest of my security measures are: ZoneAlarm firewall: http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm (I use a different one but it's no longer freeware. The free ZoneAlarm version is just as good.) FireFox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ A free browser and, yes, I very much consider this part of my security setup. I use the plug-in NoScript to further lock things down (and several other plug-ins to make FireFox a more pleasant browser than MSIE.) Call me paranoid, but I want to feel safe when I do my on-line banking and order things by credit card. If this one thing has made it past your defence, who knows what else is on your hard drive?

There's probably a virus as a result of downloading something using the program. I don't feel comfortable going through this over the 'net, but check the registry. Or find someone who knows how. Start>Run>regedit Editing the registry is potentially writing your doom. So if you don't know how, please don't attempt it. However, I would just search the registry and remove all instances of iMesh. P.S. Oh, did you try removing the program in Control Panel's program list? Do that first, THEN find someone to fix the registry if the problem persists. Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. You said that you removed it, but didn't state how. If it's in that list still, remove it from there. It may be a little more thorough.

You need a network packet sniffer to help you find out what the problem EXACTLY is, then you'll get the best solution. Go to http://www.etherlook.com to download Capsa 6.9 to capture the problem out.

OY! I've ran into one of those ..bleeps.. before. I ran spybot through the system and junked adware/malware. Trouble is you're using Norton, so you might not be able to use spybot (the two often clash).... Can you run system restore? Pick a recent point (before i-mesh nonsense). I noticed this type of trouble was common with IE, so I've been using Mozilla since. ( Firefox is great, Sea Monkey is pretty good).
