Is it safe to download music from frostwire or limewire without getting a virus??

Limewire has it's own protection software if a music file has been modified. It will pick up pretty much anything to worry about. But if I were you, I would stick to music files, and .zip files. .zip files with viruses in them cannot have access to your computer until you open the folder. Scan it first to ensure safety. Avoid .exe downloads directly from Limewire, because more times than not, they ARE viruses. It's recommended as well that you use limewire on a limited account (only applies to XP and Vista users). If you catch a virus on a limited account, it can only affect the files that the limited account has access to. An Administrator account has access to the entire computer, therefore giving the virus full control as well.

I used limewire for a while and every time I installed it I ended up with viruses. I would say the other site is probably the same. I had 9 viruses from using limewire in just one day. Hope that helps.

There's no real way to "protect yourself" from files you download off Limewire. I'm no expert on Frostwire but I assume it's the same. Files that are downloaded could very well contain malicious software, and there's no guarantee that your virus protection programs will have any effect on said malicious software. It's just a bit of a gamble to use those programs, which is why I refrain.

Peer to peer (sites mentioned above) is full of viruses. That's the easiest most common way to distribute them. Not to mention it's illegal... Safest way (and legal): pay a few bucks a month and download from a reputable site like Napster or iTunes.

all thes programs are filled w/ viruses and spy/ad ware as well as keyloggers, which can reside in your computer and virus scan wont catch them

Make sure your antivirus has a peer to peer feather in it like Avast, but the true answear is yes you can get alot of malware and viruses, if you are not a advanced computer user then it is not worth ruining your system.

i have rarely gotten a virus from music.... but it's good to have an antivirus with the option of automatic file scan....but a piece of advice.... avoid trying to download programs....bad news

lime wire will give you viruses without you knowing until its too late make sure it's the legal one tho but either way it'll give your computer viruses
