This morning around 9 AM London time, I was browsing throughout the interent then suddently the screen of my computer blocks and this pages comes. http://95.211.55.108/ It has my IP adress and it says that it comes from Strathclyde police and this: nder the laws of the United Kingdom and investigation of Metropolitan Police Service and Strathclyde Police Your computer is locked to prevent illegal activity in the network. ''From this IP-address it was visited sites containing banned scenes of violence against people, as well as viewing banned in United Kingdom child pornographic materials. We discouverd video files that contain elements of violence were found on your computer.'' Unsolicited Bulk Messages was send from your computer's IP address and it was recorded by SpamHaus this month. The computer has been locked to prevent your illegal activities on the Internet. To unlock the computer you are obliged, within 48 hours of receiving notice, to pay a fine of £ 100. This is crazy, I have done none of what they are telling me. Is this genuine or fraud? please help me. Thank you for your advice

Answer:
It's pretty much the same as METROPOLITAN POLICE scam. Here's a write-up and removal guide: http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2011/06/remove-metropolitan-police-ransomware.html

Well its already been pointed out by both you and others that this was a fake. In future though there are some little hints you can go by to figure it out. Oficially your browser should never be hijacked like that, any real attempt to contact you by the police will be a visit to your door or a letter. The second major hint to me comes in terms of the grammar used in the webpage, officially things very rarely have grammatical or spelling errors in, but when you read this its not the best English ever, "unsolicited bulk messages was sent"?....think its were in that situation :P. Looks to me like a template that then gets sent all over world, changing country and police department as well as the fine amount. The line "we discovered (more spelling mistakes there unless it was the op :P)videos files that contain elements of violence", shows that too me...due to the fact images of violence aren't illegal over here :-s I'd imagine you are using internet explorer? thats the only broswer I know with such holes in to allow that kind of hijack. I'd suggest switching to firefox and getting adblock plus, hopefully you'd never see anything like that again. Accessing someones hard drive (remotely) by the way is illegal, so blocking or locking it is also illegal. So I guess the police won't do it for those reasons too :P

As the other comments say it's a scam and will appear every time you turn your computer on unless you remove it. Solution restart the computer in safe mode and clear. To do this.. Try holding {Control} {alt} and {delete} keys together to bring up the shut down/restart option. select restart (failing this switch off at mains and back on again) (I have vista but i presume its a similar process for other versions)Reboot in Safe Mode by pressing F8 while pc starts up Select safe mode with command prompt...windows will then restart Type MSCONFIG This will bring up a configuration screen. click on 'start up' tab. This will show you all the programmes opening on start up and one of them will be causing all the problems. On my list there was one entry with a random selection of letters which made it easy to spot. Just untick and click apply and its done. It will prompt you to restart. If you have a few unknown entries try unticking one at time and repeat the whole process by elimination until you've got the right one. Good luck

The fine may be waived at the discretion of the Police Officers assigned to your case. The best thing to do, is to take your computer along to your nearest Police Station and ask to speak to the desk Sergeant, in relation to seeking a 'Voluntary Confession and Unlocking of Computer Equipment' order. (Or it might be a joke.) ***************************************… DON'T give your contact details. That was probably sent by the same idiots who sent the first message. ***************************************…
