What is illegal in downloading music?

  • ive got imesh. and im just scared cos if its illegal i dont want to download it. i mean its just for personal use and nothin else. is that illegal? and how would you know if its copyrighted or not? its like limewire but , i just dont want to get sued or anything can you just tel me if imesh is illegal or not and the music downloading

If you download it and you did not pay for it...........there you go.........unless the artist is holding some sort of sweepstakes to download his music for free....... you could download it if you want to, but the industry is not going to go after Kazaa, limewire, mesh, or any of the others, they are going to go after you.

I am not familiar with imesh. Downloading music is illegal unless you pay for it. If Imesh is something you pay for, then it is not illegal, if it is all free, then it is illegal, even if it is for your use only. I would not worry about being sued because if you get caught, you could be charged for theft.

if you are not paying for it, its illegal free=illegal pay for it=legal its pretty unusual to get caught, but the risk of getting caught might not be something you like if you know what i mean.

If its downloading music for free, then its illegal. Buy your music through iTunes. It has better quality.

It's illegal because of the whole copy-right issue. Although a lot of people still do it.

limewire is illegal cause your not buying the music. if u don't buy it the artist doesn't get paid. and thats stealing so if your not paying for the song its illegal. i would reccomend not using the program and buying music off itunes. its cheap and legal. but if you do chose to use Imesh ok no big deal u probably will not get caught but its still wrong.
