How can I get rid of virus on my hard drive?

  • I have a dell studio 15 laptop and I have had it since late 2009. My virus protection ran out and i just didn't feel like paying 30+ dollars a month or however much for however long to get it again. This is my first computer so I just didn't think about it. Well now I really need to get rid of the virus or my computer will crash. I would just wipe the hard drive but I can't find the discs for the computer and I have tried other online free programs but it hasn't really helped. The virus are multiplying so i need to do something. I was just going to give this computer to my mom so she can learn how to type and stuff and get a new one. I am waiting back on some offers for used computers but I still need to do something about this computer. It works fine. Speed and everything is good. But there are too many virus. I need a program that will get rid of most if not all of them. I am not willing to pay $40 dollars or more when I can just get a used computer for $100 or more without these problems. And yes my next computer will definitely have virus protection on it. Serious answers only. I don't need to hear what I did wrong. I can figure that out for myself. I am not knowledgeable about technology.

    There's a free antivirus program out there called Avast. It's my favorite. When you google them and go to their site to download, they will try to persuade you to buy it. They have a free one and costly ones. Just get the free one. It's the best free one that I've used. Other free ones include AVG and Avira if Avast doesn't find all the viruses.

Make copies of your important stuff, then format it. if that doesn't work then take the battery out and use it to smash the screen over and over. When you feel like the Computer doesn't need any more smashing, you throw it out the window and stare at it until it blows up. If none of the above works, you might have to boil the computer, if the computer reach high enough temperatures, the virus will most likely die.
