Computer Locked by Metropolitan Police Scam?

  • I'm in the U.K and just a while ago at 09:14pm , i recieved this message that blocked my screen and the message said : ''From this IP-address it was visited sites containing banned scenes of violence against people, as well as viewing banned in United Kingdom child pornographic materials. We discouverd video files that contain elements of violence were found on your computer.'' Unsolicited Bulk Messages was send from your computer's IP address and it was recorded by SpamHaus this month. The computer has been locked to prevent your illegal activities on the Internet. To unlock the computer you are obliged, within 48 hours of receiving notice, to pay a fine of £ 100. I am really scared, i never watched porn so why do i have this? Also, if i don't do anything about it, will the Virus/Scam harm my computer? Please help!! I haven't told my parents yet, i want to know if the scam is very harmful before i tell them .. Please help!! I'm really scared!! Thank You!!

In response to the answer before mine, ransomeware is a type of malware and isn't a specific trojan. Please learn to research your materials before posting a response like that. It's misleading and frankly just wrong. If you want to post on security do some basic research first. Ok, don't sweat it! It sounds to me like to have some type of Malware on your computer. It's likely the Ukash virus. You should immediately install and run a full system scan using a virus scanner such as avast! as this is free and has the tools to remove the infection (as well as any others you may have). If this infection has managed to fully block your computer from functioning, you may need to take it to a computer specialist to have them remove the virus for you as this particular virus can still appear even when you operate your computer in safe mode. Don't worry about telling your parents about this one either. You can refer them to my post here. It's truly not anything from a nefarious site like pornography or violence against humanity. Honestly, it's something that come from the most innocent of places like facebook apps, or from slightly less trustworthy places like torrent sites. So, once the virus is removed, install avast! and let it continuously monitor your system. It's free and will really protect you in the long run. Good luck!!!

This is NOT from the Met Police. It's a trojan called Ransomware There are numerous tech blogs and Youtube tutorials that show you how to remove this https://www.google.com/search?q=met+police+ransomware&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a It has nothing to do with you watching porn -- this is sent to lots of people

There are a couple of possibilities here. You may have either gotten a virus that is causing the message, or if you have a wireless internet connection that isn't "secured", you may have a person or persons who are stealing your signal and visiting these types of web sites using your address. Anyone who "uses" your internet service and logs on to a web site of questionable character will be traced back to your computer and home address. If you don't have wireless service or are certain that your wireless signal has a strong password and the signal isn't being stolen by a neighbor or someone on the street, you should contact the Metropolitan Police Dept. and ask them if this is an actual message or if you have been hacked or received a virus. If you indeed do have wireless internet service that isn't secured, then you really do have a problem with lots of explaining to do. Good luck!
