How do I delete cookies from my computer?
-
In my last Toshiba Laptop Checkup it said I got 3 cookies. I use Firefox and I only accept First-party cookies and I keep them until Firefox closes. I used the Disk Cleanup method, but no matter how many times I do that, when I scan it says I have those cookies. How the hell do I get rid of them? I use AVG Free Anti-Virus and Malware Bytes.

I call this the Jesus cookie...'cause it resurrects itself after you think it's been killed. "a JavaScript API...evercookie does this by storing cookie data with as many local storage mechanisms as it can find. Apart from standard browser cookies there are Flash cookies, a number of local storage repositories provided by HTML 5, even in the RGB values of PNG graphics forced into the cache. On Kamkar's TODO list are Silverlight Isolated Storage and the window.name field. The really evil part comes when evercookie finds that the user has removed any of the types of cookies in question. It then recreates them using each mechanism available." [Bookmark and refer to this page for how it works, and how to use it...very straight forward; http://noscript.net/features#contentblocking 1st party cookies are from sites you 'asked' Firefox to fetch, and they are not so bad, and you'll keep getting them when you use the Internet. You may as well resolve to keep them, and be done with it. It's those 3rd party cookies (and assets) that are evil. If ultra-privacy is your goal, use a "Live Linux set-up, and you'll not have anything each time you start up.
