How old is it to become a fashion male model?

How to "train" to become a model & fashion designer, im 13 ?

  • Okay. Well train isn't really the right word. Kind of like.. get ready I guess? What can I do to look more like a model and how can I start getting more into fashion?? Haha. I mean I really want this one day. I love makeup, hair, clothes, etc.. so much! I even have a beauty channel on youtube and a makeup collection and everything. so how should I start getting into better shape? Should I start taking sewing classes? What can I do to learn more about this stuff so I will be successful in the future? Thankyou SO much!

  • Answer:

Pick one and go for it. Would you rather design the clothes, hair and makeup or be a walking hanger? The models might make good money, but the designers make more.

www.elitesitemodel.com is looking for a host of new models and currently have a competition to be on the homepage of their website as well as 3 one year contracts to people who like their new FB page and submit a basic (even homemade) portfolio and meet their basic requirements!. They have a host of different modelling types and have a lot of different portfolio galleries on their site which you can check out. http://www.facebook.com/pages/elitesitemodelcom/374179069275256 This is NOT a page for posting sitemodels! It is a fan page of the company and its REAL website online! Sitemodels wanting to post their portfolio can submit their pics either by message to me or direct to their website on the contact page. Sitemodels will be shown on their website not the facebook fan page.

That's what I want to do too!! Great minds think alike :) Don't be afraid to talk to adults. Maybe ask some questions to someone in the fashion business you know, or email a fashion designer/company you like and are inspired from, asking them how to get started. Learning to sew would be great! You could maybe start out in the summer sewing and designing something small, like scarves or jewelry. That way you could promote your business/talent and more people would know about you. I would suggest going to a few fashion events if you can, such as runway shows, modeling open calls, and etc. To be a model, ask anyone you know that has experience in that area, what it's like, and how to get started. Go to open calls at agencies near you, join a website for those who want to be models where agencies can see you online, or submit portfolios to your top picks for agencies. Hope you live your dream!

in highschool take fashion related courses. maybe try applying to art school, more courses for your career? for modelling, i guess u have to get an agent. Having a background for acting is good, maybe an acting course?

go to school study go to library and research get an agent

Heads up, you need to work really hard if you want to become a fashion designer. You should basically be a prodigy by the time you're a Junior in high school at the very latest. At thirteen that doesn't leave you much time so I'd get the ball rolling now. Well, first, you need to perfect your drawing and sewing skills. Second, learn as much as you can about the fashion industry, and by as much as you can, I mean EVERYTHING. You need to know about every aspect from technical design, marketing, shipping, etc. because you need to know what the people you work with are doing. I would suggest finding an internship with a freelance fashion design company. It may not be easy, first of all, most places will only take people with college credit, second, insurance-wise, not many places are willing to risk you getting injured, third, most places just don't want to have a thirteen year old hanging around. However, if you can find somewhere that is willing to look past all of this it will be the best thing for you. This is what I did and it was truly the best experience of my life. I don't know if you'll be looking at high schools for next year (not sure if you're in year seven or eight) but if so, I would look at schools with a strong art programme. If you've just started thinking about fashion, I assume you don't have a portfolio, therefore I don't think you'd be able to get into an Arts school. Still, it's VITAL that you do as much as you can NOW so you can be ready for college because if you go in without knowing anything, those other design students will annihilate you. Not to scare you or anything lol. ;)
