Who are beauty editors?

Am I the only one who thinks this beauty ad is misleading?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaH4y6ZjSfE don't get me wrong, it's an excellent commercial.. if it wasn't made by Dove. They say "Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does." Dove is a beauty industry, isn't it? Well doesn't Dove sell Pro-Age products (products that make you look younger)? on their exact website, for one collection or their pro-age products, it's called "dove pro-age face care for smooth luminous skin" and in the video from 00:40 00:43, in just the title of the product, the commercial uses 2 of those words that they are apperently against. Also, Dove's parent company owns Axe which shamelessly propagates the unrealistic body image that this commercial or Dove is against. I'm not convinsed that Dove is actually concered about young girls veiws on the beauty industry and our scocial dilemma since they own Slim Fast too. am I the only one that thinks this?

  • Answer:

You have a good point. It does contradict their message when you look at the range of products they have on offer. On one hand they are saying you should embrace your body and looks for what it is yet on the other hand they are also selling products that, to quote from their website "that gently unveil smooth, radiant skin". I know many people loved that famous "airbrushing" Dove commercial but in the end we have to remember they are a business, not a charity therefore we cannot completely trust their motives. They are in a multi-billion dollar industry to make money and no matter what, raising the self-esteem of women will never be their sole aim. Their sole aim will be to sell their beauty products.

omg. that was kinda disturbing. but i guess thats what the industry is like! i think it is misleading. and dove does say things like "tighter. firmer. younger" its a bit hypocritical. . no you are not. i totally agree

life is short, wear cute shoesツ

i agree as well because i think they just want people to be on their side and buy their products. very true video though, but who gives a **** about natural beauty? what good does it give you? it's not like you're never gonna wear makeup in your life! this generation is full of superficial things and i think that natural beauty is just for people who have excuses.

TiLiA?

no ur not i agree with you thats just how these businesses are they just tryna make money

stresssed

They are all in the game of money. This campaign that Dove is doing is just a schtick to get more money... and it is clearly working.

wankster

I think they mean that they should'nt care about the makeup they wear and getting plastic surgery and all that stuff. and caring about they're weight and all this stress. But the thing is is that I already got into slimfast and caring about how I look and wearing makeup and stuff. so the industry went too fast. but it's my moms fault too. she's a *****
