How to look like a model from a magazine?

Could I be a model? (pics)?

  • A lot of people have been telling me to enter modelling competitions in my city, and get professional photos done. My mom always tells me, "You should go on America's Next Top Model." A lot of people seem to agree with her. I'm short, 5'5, not going to get much taller it seems. I'm around 120 pounds. (Is that bad?) I love fashion and have a good fashion sense, and I know how to do a model's walk. But seeing as I'm short, I've been told I could be a magazine model, one where they could make it look like I'm a lot taller than I really am. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330400/n559572002_1873850_1335.jpg http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330400/snowyday.jpg http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330400/photographs%200406.jpg I'm pretty self concious, so I don't really know if they're just saying it to be nice, or if they mean it. Also, my editing. :)

  • Answer:

I would say yes but modeling is way more than just a pretty face and a nice body trust. That's why every beautiful person can't be models. The first and most important thing you need is Confidence. You get into the modeling world they will eat you alive trust I am a plus sized model and boy it is so tough sometimes i wanna just quit. Also if you have insecurities now they will see right through it and use it against you. They will also have you doing different things maybe not just commercial/editorial shoots so you have to be confident and believe in yourself. Last but not least the "It factor". They are always looking for someone who is not the typical standard of beauty and will stand out. Look at Kimora Lee when she first started. Alek Weck(bald african model) and Shaun Ross(the albino model). So work on these in order 1. Confidence 2. Skill(Runway, facial expression, poses) 3. It factor(Being VERSATILE) Hope it helped and I wasn't too harsh.

No offence...they're saying to be nice

You're cute, but you're not model material.

Danny

It's not all about looks, really. It takes a lot of talent to do what they do and do it well.

Shiksa

You need better pics. Those don't represent you at all. You are making cheesy faces. What people are looking for in models is versatility, great angles, creativity, and an overall lengthy body. I didn't see any of that in those shots. Try again my dear, try again.

Pooter.

you're pretty but being a model is hard, from my opinion no.

i dont know, you're pretty average

Hmmm...you look like an ordinary youngster to me. Honestly, you are cute - but I really dont see anything that makes you unique. Sorry, just being honest.

You are cute enough but the height might be an issue. Call a modeling agency and ask them.

go for it
