Where to do Modeling For teens?

Male modeling for teens aged 17.?

  • I have receive thew compliments at times from girls saying that I would be great at modeling so I decided to look into the modeling category and found out more about it. What are the requirements on male modeling? Weight, height, age, skin texture and so on. I got a mixed skin color of black and white, around 6.1ft, weighing at 79kg, curly dark brown hair, wear glasses, don’t smoke and go to the gym to build muscle.

  • Answer:

Only runway & fashion have measurement criteria. Adult males waist 30"–35" chest 36"–40" & height 5'11 - 6'2. (Within an inch is acceptable). Weight is not important but male models must be toned with a healthy BMI. Other modelling categories don't have measurement criteria but male models under 5'8 struggle to compete with taller guys. If you`re under the runway required height, don`t apply to a runway agency - they use the same models for their commercial & editorial divisions. As with all modelling there are a number of modelling categories you can try. Modelling is the visual advertising of a product or commodity, whether it be for fashion in the runway, catalogue and fashion catagories, for products as in commercial, promotional and editorial modelling, or fantasy as in the glamour genre of the industry. When asked why some people are accepted and some never make it the same reply covers all categories of modelling. It`s not down to what they look like, male models do not have to be good looking. What agents look for is the model`s ability to make the product they are advertising (whether a physical product or an idea) marketable via the camera and the resultant image.. The key to a model being accepted by an agency or chosen for modelling assignments is ability, not looks. Many very good looking people are rejected by agencies because they simply cannot model. Many average looking people are signed to agencies because they CAN model. Under 18s need written parental permission to model & adult chaperones to all photoshoots, agency interviews & casting calls. Parents must ensure work is within government guidelines with regard to hours, pay etc. If applicable a youth work permit will be needed. By law, only parents can make model agency applications on behalf of anyone under the age of 18. The majority of girls actually know very little about the real modelling industry & the way it works (despite reading numerous magazines and watching model related tv programmes) so take their 'you would be a great model' comments as compliments on your looks but understand that agents will view you very differently. Modelling has a very high rejection rate. Unfortunately, without being able to see what you look like, no-one here can tell you if you have the potential to model or not.
