The neck is a pretty sensitive area and quite frankly it can get a girl really going kissing her neck. A lot of the times a guy will just get carried away. Oddly enough it's also a guys way (usually subconciously) of "marking" his territory. I was discussing this with my friends after I had given my girlfriend one, inadvertently. And every single guy or girl said it happened to them at the beginning of a relationship. It's rather funny but the neck is visible and it's a way of a guy saying to everyone hands off. Well that's my thoughts at least. As weird as it sounds
