What is the difference between selling Avon and selling Mary Kay??

the avon booklet is much more fun to look at than the mary kay and yes avon is much more affordable, but they have improved their products dramatically for their customer's faces cuz I use their products and I have used mary kay and have found that the results are the same.

Mary Kay has a little higher start up cost, but you get all the materials you need to get started, lots of training an product information, a leather carrying bag, samples, demo's etc, It pays for itself if you like the products. Also, the commission is great (50%). Yes it is a little higher than Avon, but the beauty of Mary Kay, is that if you have a customer who would really like something but can't afford it, you can give them a discount., I am military and know lots of military families, where money is tight so I offer a military discount. Contrary to what many people say, you do not have to hold inventory. The only difference is that it will help your business, by having items readily available for the impulse buyer. I personally do not hold much inventory because I cant afford it right now and my director is ok with that. Mary Kay focuses on skin care and cosmetics, because taht is their specialty and they focus on that in order to provide the best products on the market and not diversify too much. My suggestion is to just look very carefully into both and choose what feels right to you, since both have their pros and cons. Mary Kay happened to be right for me and you will sell what you best believe in.

Mary Kay, in my opinion, is much better than Avon. The product quality is much higher w/ Mary Kay. Mary Kay doesn't sell clothes or jewelry... Makeup and facial cleansers..and perfumes..only. Hi Randi, Selling Avon has been very easy for me. I had a lady try to sign me up as a Mary Kay rep before I started selling Avon and the sign up fees I thought were outrageous for a single mom on a fixed income. Plus I started thinking about the people I knew I could sell to right away and realized most of them would rather by Avon because it was more affordable. During my first campaign, I sold a little over $500 with Avon and my earnings were about $225.00. My second campaign I sold $825.00 and my earnings were almost $400.00. In my frist month of selling Avon, I earned roughly $600.00. I was impressed. I have a friend that sales Mary Kay and we talk about our business and the differences. She admitts that her product is for more of the high end user and the fact that she has to have a minimum order inorder to place her order is difficult sometimes. One of the benefits of Avon, is there is not minimum order. If all you want to do is order a mascara, then that's all you have to do. As far as the products, I have used both Mary Kay and Avon products and I believe they are alot alike except I can afford Avon on my salary. My daughter also loves going through the Avon brochure and picking something out every campaign. I let her choose one item that she really wants and I get it for her. She has even tried to take the Avon brochures to school with her to give to her teacher. She really enjoys getting involved with Avon also. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Major difference - MK makes you buy your products upfront so you can get get stuck with stuff you don't want! Avon you place orders for just what people ordered!

I know that selling Mary Kay is a better way to go, but you can sell both. My friend sells Mary Kay and you make 50% of whatever you sell. Plus you get discounts and can take a lot off on your taxes. I am sure that you can also get some of the same amenities from Avon and they have some great products like you stated. Mary Kay sells a full skin care line--different types and makeup and perfume and other beauty essentials. They do not sell jewelry or clothing at this time, at least not in the last book I looked through. You can visit their websites to see all of what they offer. Good luck.
