What's a decent age to have a boyfriend?

Whats the right age to have a boyfriend?

  • haha i am 14 and haven't had one yet.. well not a *real* one anyway.. haha maybe my longest was two weeks.. eeeekkk. well i am always jealous of my friends or anyone i see with a boyfriend..it makes me sadd.. haha not really but anyways.. yeah i was just wondering what some other people feel like.. so just answer the question please.

  • Answer:

It's okay to have a boyfriend at 14, the issue is what activities are okay with a boyfriend at 14 (or 16, or 18). When it is right for you, it will happen. People who try and force it because they think they "should" have a bf, aren't really ready. Boys and girls who spend more time talking to others about a bf or gf are missing the point. Seriously, this is a time to learn from others mistakes--the melodrama, the less-than-ladylike behavior, etc. Watch, learn, and take care of yourself and your reputation. The rest will take care of itself--in time.

As the mother of a 16 year old who also hasn't had a real boyfriend yet (lots of flirting, phone calls, ocassional movie dates), I say it all depends on maturity. At your age I think dating doesn't really exist, you are at the age when boys should just be friends. Flirting is fun, practice for when you are older 17 or 18 and ready for a real boyfriend. Getting together with a bunch of friends is so much more fun and less stressful at your age.

omg i know how you feel. i never had a real one before, and i am always jealous of my best friend who is like a boy-magnet *quick story* FINALY, this guy who i liked, liked me back, and when me and my best friend found out, shes like, "eeehh who cares" and blew him off like it was nothing! i was about to kill her... i was like.. not EVERYONE is as luck as you, who can get a guy at the snap of the finger. sheesh, anyways, there really is no "right time" but i have seen many 12 year old with boyfriends, which i think is pretty stupid becuase its not really love... but around 14-15 you can start to appreciate guys more... have fun ;)

Well... That really varies... Young women mature differently at different ages and it all really depends on if you are ready or not. I am 20 and I had my first real boyfriend was when I was 16 and quite honestly I came to terms that I, infact, was not ready for a boyfriend at 16. So I'd say what my mother says... You can start "dating" at 15 but when it comes to serious relationships/boyfriends, you have to feel that it is right because it is so easy to fall in love, but so hard to fall out of it. Good Luck hun!

Just ask your mom what age she prefers you to date. I didn't have a boyfriend until I was 15 so enjoy your life................

SweetT

there isn't a right age to have a boyfriend.it just sord of happens when it happens.

any age is fine,... as long as you're in charge and don't let some boy trick you into doing anything that is not right for you and your well being. Boys are lowlife sleazy selfish dogs, but once in a while you will find a really nice boy that will grow up to be the perfect gentleman. Be careful, its nice for the image, but remember responsibility for your actions, Or lack of actions can never be avoided. Thats just life. Be well & take care mahalo
