Makeup /fashion/how can i get my dream job ,working within the industry?

• hi guys,any advice is so much appreciated thanks,i love fashion and styling and makeup i wanted to work with this modelling agency and they said at interview i dont have enough expierence on my resume thats what i wanted to gain by working/interning there my parents were ill past 6 years and i havent been able to work,i was wondering how do i break into this area even though i dont have a resume i took alot of make up classes but no hands on expierence in a working enviornment i want to do all areas collaborate them all any tips or advice on how i can go about this,or what i can say thanks so much!

  You need to do some freelance work, basically do other peoples make-up and take pictures of the really good ones, then put them in a portfolio. You can do this on your friends and family etc. It's all about gaining experience, make-up counters in department stores are a good place to start, if you show them your portfolio and it's satisfactory then they will probably give you a job, regardless of your experience, but only if you show through photos that you have a make-up skill. They might also do a quick test and ask you to prepare a day look and then edit it slightly for an evening look, so be prepared for anything they may ask you. While working at a make-up counter etc. you will gain experience and can also continue to build your photo portfolio. When you've had experience in small places, you will then have enough experience to work for the bigger places like MAC. The only thing is you will probably have to get a lisence to work at make-up counters or what not. You will only be able to get this by studying a course at a proffessional make-up school (these are usually really expensive). If you do study at a school they will build a portfolio for you, so really you can get straight to work after. Another way to gain experience is doing bridal work. You can do this by putting an advertisement in a local newspaper, the word will get around and you can charge people to do their wedding make-up for them. Usually when working with make-up you will also need to learn how to dress hair, you won't neccessarily have to be able to cut it, but you will need to learn how to style it, which would be taught at a make-up school. If you're considering going to a make-up school then you can google it and lots will come up. You can do small 2 day courses if you wish which won't waste your time. Good Luck
