When is red nose day?

My nose is so shiny and red by the end of the day. Help!?

  • Okay. So. I have a problem with a shiny nose. I need to know what works best to stop it from being so shiny. First, though, I'll tell you my face routine. 1. In the morning I was my face with Cetaphil Oily Skin cleanser for combination/acne prone skin. Then I pat it dry. 2. I apply Neutrogena Morning Burst moisturizer that has shine control to my face and neck. 3. I powder on some Cover Girl pressed powder to my face. After that my face is a bit blotchy from washing it, but no shine. After about an hour, my face has a really nice complexion because my face isn't as dry anymore (it's dry in the morning but gets oily during the day) But then by 10 am at school I have to apply more pressed powder to my nose. Like every hour I have to! And also, somehow, my nose gets red too by the end of the day. It looks horrible! Do you know of any better moisturizers (I don't think mine works well) or home remedies or something that makes this better. Please, don't say to use blot papers. I care for the environment and those things are thrown in the garbage, so no. thanks so much!

  • Answer:

for the redness: try a concealer with green in it, it will counteract the redness.\ http://www.clinique.com/templates/products/sp_nonshaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY20210&PRODUCT_ID=PROD12612 for the shine, make sure you aren't drying out your skin, that will only cause it to become more oily because it thinks you need extra moisture. use and oil free moisturizer the cleanser your using sounds fine. use a mattifying lotion, try mark by avon's matte chance. then apply powder.

Try Mac blot powder, it is much better quality then covergirl so it will give you much better coverage and control your shine.

I think you should try a better brand then covergirl to get more coverage of the redness. Covergirl may be inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Go to sehora.com and try this brand called makeupforver ever. They have pressed powerers and concealers and lots of great products. It seriously has the best coverage. To set the cover up use pressed powered and it wont look shiny and will last for hours. Bring the power with you during the day if you need to touch of the shiny spots. For mosturizer, use aveno it works great. If you have the money even better try origins.com mosturizers. THERE THE BEST!!! Good luck.

Blotting papers don't contribute that much waste to the environment. In fact, there are natural companies out there that make bio-degradable blotting papers. Check your local natural beauty store to see how they can help you. You're waking up with a dry face because your acne cream is TOO drying. Start applying this only on alternating nights so you're not stripping your face every night. You might not need it at all. When I was a teenager, I used to use everything I could to keep myself from getting zits. In fact, because I kept over-drying it with Stridex pad and extracting minimal blackheads, I GAVE myself more zits than I would ever have naturally gotten by just using soap and water. You might not be acne prone at all! Try a mattifier - Korres Lemon Anti-Shine Gel is a good one - over a different moisturizer (a gentle one with SPF 15 - try Neutrogena).

i'm sorry about the issues you're experiencing, my nose gets shiny on average every 2hours if i do not apply smashbox's antishine. nothing can stop your pores from producing oil and thus the shine. what you can do is to lessen it. i use the seaweed line from the body shop and it works to control or lessen the gravity of my oily t-zone. their seaweed toner is good and it doesn't have alcohol so it won't dry out your skin. the face shop (available at walgreens) also has an oil control line with white tea in it. since your regimen or routine is still allowing you to have a shiny nose then it is time for a change. oh by the way, i also use bare escentuals' mineral veil and that helps both to set my foundation and control the oil. revlon's colorstay liquid foundation with softflex with SPF6 for oily combination skin is good to control your t-zone as well. hope these help.

<i> Heyaa I would recommened actually changing your pressed powder to something more natural such as the body shop's make up range, mac or YLS< that one is fantastic. The best moisturizers i think to get, to clear the face your nose of redness and your face of any spots or even spots that are coming is to use witch hazel and tea tree. It honestly works absolute wonders!!!! Use it in the morning and at night. If this still doesn't work think about consulting a beauty therapist who is sure to help you and give you helpful advice which will stop the redness. Good luck sweet XX

The problem is that you aren't applying moisturizer to your face. When you don't apply the extra moisture, your glands work overtime to make your skin less dry. If you were to add a moisturizer after you wash your face, you can easily solve this problem. There are several good moisturizers out there. I've tried billions out there and found that they all work just the same. If you're on a low budget and are looking for something that does work, you can always use Johnson's baby lotion. I know, weird, but I've found that it doesn't make your skin too greasy and makes your skin much softer.
