How To Cut Men Hair?

Why when a hair dresser starts cutting men's hair from the bottom up, I always get a bag hair cut?

  • When the hair dresser starts from the top downwords the % is 95 on getting a good hair cut. I am not a hair dresser and know nothing about it but as soon as I sit in that chair, where the hair dresser starts I know it is going to be bad or not! Can anyone shed some light on this for me, is there a correct way to cut hair? I would build a building from bottom up but not top downwards.

  • Answer:

An excellent hairdresser establishes guides. There is a perimeter guide that determines all over length. There is a top guide that determines interior length. The top guide is then connected to the perimeter guide, usually in a top to bottom pattern. The stylist should then go in the reverse order (bottom to top) to check the haircut and remove any hair that was missed or to remove excess bulk. If a stylist just starts cutting without establishing guides, it will be a bad haircut, no matter if its from bottom to top or top to bottom.

When you build a building, there are no foundations so you need to work 'bottom up' When you have your haircut, there isn't a need for foundations, they already exist. To solve your problem, always insist the hairdresser goes 'top/down'. You're paying so it's your decision but say it nicely otherwise you may the worst haircut ever...........
