How to get rid of oily hair?
-
Ok so I'm a thirteen year old girl, and I have long golden blonde hair that goes down to my elbows. I have never had this problem before, but my hair is getting super oily. I used to be able to wash my hair once a week without it even being slightly gross. Now, I have to wash it every day or my roots start getting greasy. Right now I am using mane and tail shampoo and conditioner that was made for horses, but i know many (human) people who use it. So far, this has actually been the best shampoo for keeping my hair clean.however, my hair is still greasy the next day, and this is a problem becaus eit gets really gross when I go to sleepovers and stuff. The other thing is that the ends of my hair are dry, so I can't just skip the conditioner to a make my hair less oily. I don't apply and conditioner near my roots, only on my ends. I was actually considering getting an at home perm because I have really straight hair with no volume at my roots, and getting a perm would give me the curls I have been dying to get and It would dry out my hair so I Wouldn't have to wash it every day. the only problem is that I'm only 13 and I'm not sure how to ask my mom since she has super curly hair and always wanted straight hair and would say that I'm lucky. Me and my mom totally want to switch hair, hers is really dry and curly and dark and mine is light and fine and oily and gross! Also, would getting a perm be really bad for the ends of my hair?

Answer:
Okay, first of all, Mane and Tail isn't actually made for horses. Second of all, one of the reasons your hair is getting greasy is probably because you don't apply conditioner to your scalp. I usually tell people to not put conditioner on their scalp, but since your hair still gets greasy at the roots, you actually need to add conditioner. Your hair is greasy at the roots because when you only shampoo the roots, your scalp gets really dry, so to make up for it, your body produces extra oil, which in turn makes your hair actually greasier. Now do NOT put a lot of conditioner on your roots. Only put the excess you have left over on your hands. Getting a perm isn't going to help. Perms don't really affect the roots, which is where the problem is. If nothing is working, change shampoos. Try Organix shampoos. I know a lot of people don't like that brand, and I haven't had good experiences with it, but I DO know that it's a great shampoo if you have oily hair. Good luck.

well, you should at least wash your hair every other day. constantly washing and putting products in your hair will damage it. You can use any shampoo and conditioner that you want but the best results would just to wash your roots with shampoo and rinse it out even if shampoo seeps down to your tips its alright it give it moisture. BUt the best effects for your tips is after washing out your shampoo to squeeze out all the water at your roots and then condition it. Hope it helps!
conditioner plays a big part in this. if you use it everyday while you are shampooing your hair, shampoo your hair ONLY focusing on the scalp then let it go to the bottom. when you go to apply the conditioner focus on your ENDS!! conditioner makes your scalp oilier faster! then use the rest for your scalp. shampoo 2-3 times a week. good luck ;)

Make sure to shampoo it every 2 days and condition it every couple of weeks. Also, make sure to dry it thoroughly after you wash it. Another thing to remember is that you shouldn't put your hands in your hair or play with your hair either. This leads to it becoming more greasy and oily.

Ok I got your fix cuz i had same hair at your age. Don't use mane and tail shampoo, just the conditioner, and when you use it, dont rub it at your roots or top of your head. start it at the back of your neck like where a ponytail would begin, pull your hair over your shoulder and massage it gently, then rinse. use dawn dish soap to wash your hair before you use the conditioner. I had to use the horse conditioner because my hair was so thick and fine it was the only way i could get a comb thru it. If you find the dawn dish soap is too harsh to use everyday, but you still want to condition or wash it everyday, try one of Aussie brand's shampoos. It is one of the few brands that im not allergic to. U want to use a clarifying shampoo. Aussie's volume booster shampoo is great cuz it rly cleanses, and the volume boost comes from the fact your hair is so clean it isn't limp and greasy and heavy. You may also want to get a haircut, or maybe just some layers to thin your hair a bit, that way it may not need too much detangling, and you could try aussie's cleanse and mend shampoo. it cleanses your roots without drying your ends to split. No conditioner required if your hair isn't tangly. Don't get a perm either, they smell bad and look horrible if you aren't an expert on how to style. look up some how to vids on how to scrunch your hair, or go into a Fantastic Sam's and ask a stylist their how to do it and maybe get some layers to thin your hair.

Your hair is probably oily like that due to your hormones, *being so young. My younger sister had a similar problem to yours. I would suggest trying to lay off the conditionar. It can weigh hair down, and although it makes your hair soft and shiny, it may be adding to the oily problem. Why don't you try either switching to a 2 in 1 with something not so "conditioning." A brand like herbal essence is fairly good, and smells wonderful. You can also try using baby shampoo! Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo is good for removing oil, dirt, and is very gentle on your hair as well. Try conditioning once a week with a light weight conditioner. It should help with your problem. Here are some other tips: wash your hair with lukewarm/cool water, avoid the hot stuff. Avoid putting conditioner to the root and scalp, apply to middle to ends of hair only. Avoid scrubbing your scalp everytime you wash. gently wash your hair, as scrubbing the scalp my produce more oil. lay off the products as well. a lightweigh mousse should be fine.
