What is the correct way to do pin curls?

Proper way to do pin curls in relaxed, african american hair?

• My hair is relaxed and I'm trying to go for a nice vintage hairstyle to wear to an upcoming party. I've read many guides for pin curls, but they all require your hair to be wet and my hair gets a little weird when wet. Is there a certain way to do it for African American hair or is it just the same?

  A very small amount of gel might work. Very small though, you don't want the hair to get hard. I don't know when the party is but why don't you do a dry run not using anything in it. When I do my pin curls I don't have to use anything (i'm african am w relaxed hair) just keep the pins in for a long time.
