Any advice for having thin hair?

Advice about preventing hair loss???

  • ok so let me explain, for the past 3 months i've been brushing my hair and a lot of hair falls out. I mean BEAUCOUP!I know that we are supposed to shed hair everyday. But I exceed that amount. I don't know what is going on. My hair has become thinner n thiner.just dead. it used to be full of life. My hair is a bit funny. i'm mixed black/asian. But my hair is like, straight.can't describe it. It's like black ppls hair but easier to manage?lol don't know.when i wash it.it gets these big waves. I do relax my hair once a week. I know it's not good for my hair. I wash my hair about 3 times a week. I was wondering if someone has any advice about what I can do or use for my brittle hair??? and what can be causing this? i've already tried fortifying shampoos/conditioners, tea tre oil lotion for the hair, and olive oil leave in stuff and I give myself a hair mask once a week. I'm scared to even brush it anymore!! I don't want to loose my hair! serious answers please!!!!

Okay you are such a gorgeous woman - you don't need to do all of this to your hair. It is screaming help me - I promise you if you take these tips, it will get healthier - I promise. Been there and done this - Tea Tree can be drying. I have heard monoi oil is good- check out the body shop or bath and body works for that. Also - there is a shampoo and conditioner called Loreal Professional Serie Expert Absolut Repair - it is a masque actually not a conditioner - this is the best stuff that money can buy and since you are spending so much anyways, just buy this product. Also has a stying cream/aid for repair. *****Don't use what the other answers are telling you to use - this is not normal hair loss - it is due to chemical damage so those products WILL NOT work. You need something made to repair chemically destroyed hair and the products I told you about are SPECIFICALLY made for that reason! This is not just hair loss - it is from chemicals - you have to treat that damage not the hair loss - the hair loss is coming from the damage - you have to treat the "root" of the problem - not the symptom.***** You can only get it a good salons but ebay.com has it much cheaper and signing up there is simple and it is simple and safe to sign up for paypal - just never link to these sites through your email in case they are phoney emails - always type the web address into your browser. I would recommend buying these first. You are probably using TOO MUCH stuff in your hair actually which can cause it to over soften and fall out more. Also, hair loss can be genetic - if your mom's hair thinned out in her 20;s, 40's etc - yours will most likely do the same. I have been losing mine the same way so it is so much thinner than it used to be but I use that brand of Shampoo and Conditioner and it is getting better. Salons also offer a very intense treatment called "power dose b repair" by the same brand - you can get that on ebay too. The shampoo and products are $20 -$25 a bottle and that treatment in the salon is $20 but on ebay you can get those treatments for about $7 a bottle instead. Great deal - you spray in on and comb it in and leave it for 10 min and rinse out - hair changes instantly. The relaxing is what is making it fall out - heat products, too much styling stuff or conditioning things - all make it fall out. You have to stop using it or get it done professionally and once a week is way too much. There is nothing you can do to stop it from falling out if you continue to do this stuff to it - just leave it alone for a while - I have messed with my hair soooo much - lost it - half of it fell off when I used some at home product made for "black hair" while I am caucasian with light blond hair and I was trying to get out a perm I never should have got when I was younger - I have been through it all and I finally had to just leave it alone.I try not to dry it often, I color it less and I always get it done professionally. I use those treatments every two weeks and I use that shampoo and masque and repair cream for splitting hair. That company also makes other types for other problems - the one called "Liss Extreme" is also amazing - that is for unruly, course hair - it really really works. I would recommend that you get both types - Absolut Repair and Liss Extreme. This is the site so you can see what I am talking about - I am sure where you live but call good salons or go on ebay. http://us.lorealprofessionnel.com/_en/_us/products/feature/site_SerieExpert/index.aspx If you keep doing this to your hair, it will all fall out - you have to see a professional for a consultation about a longer lasting relaxer perhaps or to see what to do to start ending this brittleness and hair loss - normally consultations are free so call around and see. Monoi Monoi oil is for skin and hair and is supposed to be the best. I would stop using whatever it is that you are using - any product from a drugstore won't help - with hair products you really do get what you pay for - the more money it is, the better the ingredients. The ones in drug stores are very drying and don't work - just cause they lather well or feel like they are absorbing well does not mean that they work - in fact the ones that do work often don't feel like they will - but they do. In addition, take a good hair, skin and nails vitamin - one with Biotin - ask the person at the Vitamin Shoppe what it the best - you can get these at GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe. You need to take one of these. You also need to make sure that you are protecting it from the sun - they sell that Monoi oil at Bath and Body Work with SPF - oh by the way, it is made by True Blue Spa. You also need to drink a lot of water all of the time - keeps it hydrated. African American hair is so suseptible to damage already - even before all of these products but Asian hair is normally so healthy so you have a little bit of both - you have to leave it alone. You have to be so careful with your hair type what you put in it. . You know what is causing the damage but you are trying to stop it by using all of this and in fact are making it worse - other chemicals don't mix with relaxers well AT ALL - so you are mizing way too much and your hair is under wayyyyy toooo much stress. You have to baby it now - leave it alone totally. Find a style that you can wear so you can put it up all the time without using any of this stuff - just put in some of that repair cream or serum I mentioned and leave it up. You also need a good cut to get rid of all that breakage and damage - as short as you can go. If you do all of this, it will get better. Do not keep doing what you are doing though - it won't ever get better. I know it's hard but try to love what you have and make it work somehow - I did and it is so much healthier now - in fact I never thought it could get this healthy again - so leave it alone - you have to... :o) Good luck!

my only advice to u is to use one type of product and sick with it for at least 2 weeks. i like olive oil, try that again, and use all the products that go with it, the shampoo, oil, the mayo treatment mark your calendar and see how that goes. some vitamins help your hair as well check your local gnc shoppe or vitamin world is also a good place, and they sell hair products too. if the olive oil stuff doesn't work try the carrot oil products they are Good to, good luck

First off, it could be some kind of thyroid problem, so you should go to the doctor and tell them this. Second, I've found than Nizoral AD (yes, it is an anti-dandruff shampoo found at target/walmart/drugstores) helps make hair stronger and stops hairloss to a certain point. Only wash from your ears up and condition from your ears down. You may be using too many silicones (any ingeredient ending with -cone is usually a silicone) so cut down on those. Also, try using less hair products with protein in them (a lot of times the bottle says wheat protein) because too much protein can make you lose your hair. Stop heat styling altogether and hopefully if you baby your hair the new growth will be healthy.

Ok you should not brush your hair when you get out the shower and maybe you should shea butter a african lotion it works on everything like your skin if you have scars or burns you can put in your hair not to much let set the do daily and it could work or go to a beauty salon and ask whats wrong and see what they can do.

I have a friend, who is black, and her hair started breaking off and falling out because of stress. The only way she could stop it was to go short and start all over. She looked wonderful in short hair too

Have you been feeling well? How is your energy level? Chemical products aside, medical conditions such as iron-deficiency anemia and/or a thyroid condition can cause hair to fall out as you described. You might google the symptoms for hypothyroidism and iron deficiency anemia. Both are common conditions; inexpensively and easily treated by your doctor. This was my best shot at your question since you don't seem to think it is the chemicals causing it! It's definitely something to check out. Hope this helps you.

Wo

carrot oil is what my african american friend uses. She tells me to use it but i cant find it in stores.
