How can i style my damaged hair without using heat?(African American)?
-
I no this is long but I really need the help so please read it. I started going to the salon where I got my hair straitened and highlighted. My hair was natural and when straitened went a little past my chest. Anyway, I really don't know that much about hair, so I didn't realize until it was to late that clippers were used on my hair, and I don't know what else has been done but its thinner and shorter. And no, Im not a complete idiot, she didn't cut it only ever trimmed it and i guess she must have caught the hair in her hand while I wasn't looking whenever she did the rest. My mom said my hair looked thin and i got upset because I didn't want to hear, because no one wants to beleive that when you did everything you could to keep it natural and healthy someone damaged it within a couple months. But gradually it got more thin to the point were theres no denying it. I looked at my ID picture from september and almost cried. I dont want to really straiten my hair, but Im really not into that completly natural big look. Its pretty on some but I really dont think it looks good on me, and im only 16 so im not exacty bold enough to go that rout with high school and everything. Ive been looking at some curly hairstyles and wondering if I could do that with my natural hair? If so, how? And how should I start treating my hair? Is it possible for my hair to come back by september? And if I cant naturally do that with my hair, do you no any other styles for me? Thanks so much for even reading this I relly appriciate it.

Hey, I TOTALLY understand your emergency. Just breathe, i know you will over come this. I am a 16 year old africanamerican girl as well! I have been natural all my life, as have you I believe. When you comb your hair, be VERY delecate. try finger combing it out first to avoid more breakage than neccesary. Using olive oil or castor oils a few times a week are vital to maintain moisture. our hair needs a lot of moisture, or it gets dry and breaks. Go to your local beauty supply, and check it out. find the one that works for YOU. avoid ingredients like sulfate or steryl alchohol.. (they dry your hair damaged) I can understand how you are not bold enough to rock the natural doo'. haha thats totallylike me! At first i was scared, since i am the only black at my school, and was worried what others would think. They actually Loved it! :) I would also say maybe do 2 strand twists if youre not ready. Braids are too tight, and will ppull your hair out more(especcialy in the front). When you go to sleep, wear a silk scarf, or have a silk pillowcase ( cotton ones dry your hair up and soak up whatevers in yourhair.) Black hair usually grows 1/4 an inch per month. also try growth , or thickness creams/shampoos. Try not to color your hair, it strips your hair and it becomes weaker. I REALLYREALLY HOPE I HELPED!! if not.. contact me anytime , see my hair pics, or any more questions, add me on fb! http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100002842131569 Good luck

You can get braids or just try the real natural look

You should get your hair braided into micro braids with the curly human hair.

The good thing about hair is that it'll always grow back. We all experience setbacks with our hair once in a while. If your hair is thinner, you're just going to have to let it grow back out where it'll be thicker at the roots and if you ever feel your thin ends are a problem, you can trim them. I usually just wear my hair naturally curly because I'm too lazy to do anything else and I don't know many hairstyles that I can do on my own. My sister is a pretty good braider, so I have that rare occasion where I let her do a partially braided style in my hair, and next I'll have her do a faux hawk or maybe just braid one side of my hair. You can also braid it back to where it's like a ponytail where the ends are puffed out. A braided puff? I've only seen it on people, don't know what it's called: your hair is braided back to a faux ponytail and the ends are left loose to look like a ponytail. Eh, that's the best I can describe it. My hair is a little past my collarbone and I only wear it loose with a headband most of the time. It's probably long enough to let it hand down on it's own, though. A simply puff - your hair might be long enough for that. Get some braids going back to the crown of your head and leave the rest loose. Extensions. Rollers. Yep, you can roll your hair for a different type of curl. I've never done this, but I know of many girls who do. And, you can always try a braid out or twist out. Twists are easier for me. Twist your damp hair at night and take it down in the morning. The braid-out/twist-out will last longer, the longer you keep it braided. I kept my twists in for about 2-3 days and the twist out lasted for a week. The twist out is the easiest style I've done and my favorite; if you can have a favorite when you don't really have any other hairstyles that you do. :D It'll also keep your hair from easily tangling and I like how my hair looks in a twist out. Not to mention it makes my hair longer since it's eliminating a lot of shrinkage. Check out youtube. there are a lot of natural girls who put up videos and showcase their many hairstyles and you might get some ideas from their videos.
