What are summers in Vancouver like?

In which city will the summers be cooler? Winnipeg or Vancouver?

  Definitely Vancouver. This has everything to do with the proximity to the relatively cold Pacific Ocean at that latitude. There is a very strong marine influence in Vancouver, whereas in Winnipeg there is none. Why is the water so cold in the summer? Well in short this has to do with the specific heat of water--it takes significant amounts of energy to increase its temperature and conversely substantial/prolonged absence of heat energy to decrease its temperature. The oceans act as a global temperature moderator so to speak. The land, in comparison to the ocean has a very low specific heat, therefore during a hot sunny day the temperature will increase far more rapidly, than areas located in and around a large water body.
