Many, many hurricanes. But the most recent one, was Katrina. I wasn't in my house, which is a really good thing because it was destroyed. I was in my college dorm, which isn't far the coast, so it was still bad where I was. I slept through most of it. I can sleep through ANYTHING! I called my mom, who was still getting cell phone service during it! AT&T is the best! She said, "Water's starting to come in the house... but we're fine!!" Haha, she made me a bit nervous, but they were at a family friend's a few miles from the beach. I drove down the next day, which I believe was completely illegal at the time. The major highway to the coast was blocked off my police, but my friend and I found an alternate route, on which someone had already cleared the roads of the trees, or cut a path through them really, it wasn't "clear." My neighborhood was blocked off by national guard. We couldn't see if we had a house until four days later. My family and I tried to get across every day, but were denied, while we saw people walking back from the area with BAGS of stuff they had stolen from people's homes. It really frustrating. I spent the next week in 95 degree weather, with no power, and no change of clothes. I went and helped the Red Cross serve hot meals. It was really one of those most amazing experiences of my life. I learned so much about myself, my family, and people, as well as a gained respect for the weather and water. P.S. I live in Mississippi, not New Orleans. A HUGE area of Mississippi is STILL completely destroyed, and all anyone talks about is New Orleans.

Let's see- Too many hurricanes! I've live in Florida all my life. In 2004 we got the 4 hurricanes- Charley, Jean, Ivan, Francis- within 6 weeks. I live smack-dab in the center of Florida and each hurricane was as terrible as the last. You always hear about Charley being the worst. The eye came within 60 miles of us. But Jean was the worst for us!!! It was a living hell that night. And the power was out for a week.
