Can rain water be stored outside?

Is it okay to use water resistant boots as rain boots?

• I bought a pair of water resistant boots. When i poured water on them to test out water resistant they are, no water went on. However, since the water i poured on my boots was cold, i did feel the cold from the water, but not the moisture, because the water did not go through. Does the cold from rain go through rain boots, too? And how big of a storm will the rain go through the water resistant boots? Do I really need rain boots, too? I live in the city of Davis, in the state of California. Thanks

  Water resistant boots are usually not made for long term exposure to water. If you are wearing just so that your feet would stay dry while walking in the rain, then I would say that will be okay.
