Does anyone know if The weather channel website or the National Weather Service website is more reliable?
-
www.nws.noaa.gov is the national weather service and www.weather.com is the weather channel. They often have differnt tempetures and forcast. I was wondering which is more reliable for local forcasting.

Answer:
You have to remember that weather forecasting involves making statements about the future, and so it is never completely reliable. I use the National Weather Service, The Weather Channel, Accuweather, Unisys weather, and the Weather Underground. Each gives a slightly different take on the information that is available about the weather and prognoses. (I am really obsessed with weather info; most people can't spend that much time.) If you really want a good picture, use several sources and try to gain a feel for which is most likely to be right. You will find that when they all agree, that's when the weather will do something completely different from the forecast! Good luck. P.S.: If I could only have one, I would choose NWS.

im sticking with my nws office, they're far more accurate for my area than weather channel. the weather channel actually uses the NWS forecasts, they just use the 4:30am statements and forecasts and do not update them every 2 hours like the weather service does. out here in western kansas our weather changes faster than the mindset of a bunch of bipolar people. today's original forecast came out at 4:20am and was updated by 6:40am and again twice before noon. the 2pm update should be out shortly which will change again. i'd rely more with the NWS than the weather channel and their half-meteorologists. the NWS actually has real meteorologists, weather channel is nothing but a bunch of geeks with "broadcast meteorology" degrees, that know nothing in comparison to the senior forecast officers at the NWS

I think weather.com is more reliable. Here is what I came up with, they are pretty close. the real temp where i live is 74 degrees weather.com said 74 and the other one said 80 degrees it is cloudy where i live weather.com says it is partly cloudy and the other one says its sunny
